Sea Dogs named All Stars

Six members of the Portland Sea Dogs were named to the Eastern League All Star team for 2006. This is the most Sea Dogs ever selected to the All Star team, and Portland has more representatives than any other team.

The All Star Sea Dogs are:

SS Hanley Ramirez (268/328/393-2-22, 16 SB in 2005)
3B Jared Sandberg (250/349/481-15-49)
2B Kenny Perez (292/325/377-2-20)
RF Brandon Moss (284/361/493-11-40)
P Jon Papelbon (4-2, 2.67, 1.00 WHIP, 73 K in 81 IP)
P Jon Lester (5-2, 2.77, 1.20 WHIP, 89 K in 84.1 IP)

Ramirez and Papelbon were selected by the fans, while players, coaches and league personnel selected the rest.

I'm a little surprized that Perez was picked, if only because he spent the first month of the season in Pawtucket. Maybe people were thinking of Dustin Pedroia and asked, "what's the name of the second baseman in Portland?" I also think that it seems wrong to pick a guy who has played quite a bit in the big leagues, but Sandberg is among the league leaders in HR and RBI, so I guess you shouldn't hold it against him.

Congratulations to all.
